Overrated or No – Part 1

Every year, so many of our favourite works are made into movies and series. Then ,like from the nothing, people start to admire them. Our friends start to talk how amazing they are, not having the idea it was a book at first. They take the world by a storm. Actually, it can be very good way to find something new. Incredible or terrible. You decide. My real question is: Are they really that good or just too popular?

This is the thing I am going to find out right here, right now. Every Wednesday, I’ll post about these so popular stories which ”make you cool” to like.

The first one is: The Fault In Our Stars

the-fault-in-our-stars

Yes, you heard me. This stunning, moving, tragic love story. Yes, but not. The story is already known. Two teens with cancer fall in love, learn to live and have fun, start to have hope and in the end the one dies. Is it moving? Yes. Touching? Maybe. Tragic? Totally. Stunning? I don’t think so.

One thing can’t be denied. The story is good. The characters are interesting and the idea is good again. Then what’s the problem? The style. Well.. it’s not that bad, but nothing so awesome. This novel is supposed to be for teenagers, right? It may not be said, but come on.. How many adults even read things like this? Even the cover screams ” I AM DRAMATIC TEENAGE NOVEL”. Nothing wrong with this but how is it written? Totally not for the youngsters. I am saying this from the point of view of a 15 girl who has been reading stories like this for years. Green uses too much words that do not appear in most our vocabularies. Yes, I know.. Books are not for everyone. Are is not for anybody and this book too. Moreover the action is happening too fast and it slows down somewhere in the end. It is possible to be done with the purpose of representing how it is in real life, because here things also happen too fast, but are we there for reality? I don’t think so. If I wanted something like that I’d just read autobiography. You don’t have the time to take a good look at the it in your mind.

Of course, there are good things too. I’ve already mentioned them. The characters are more than good. They are funny, interesting and thoughtful. All we want in our characters. They are put in one modern and not-that realistic setting. With all the obstacles they have to go through you can’t leave your page half read and start doing something else. It is very creative and meaningful. Also you can learn something new about poetry and ”steal” some good quotes. This is a + for the book.

In the end, to sum everything up. With the risk of offending someone, for which I am deeply sorry, I dare to say – The book is good, but not that as it is said to be. For me it’s popularity is based mostly on rumors and the need to be different. My opinion is not very popular, but I felt the need to share it. After all I’m here to discuss and not only blindly  ”advertise”  book. Maybe I’m not right, when so much good authors say the opposite and I accept that this book maybe it’s not for me. After all it has it’s bad and good features which doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. Hope that nobody feels bad because of me. Bye for now ❤ !

~Till the next Wednesday!~

How to Book

Our favourite pieces of paper with their tiny black letters. The tea or coffee cup on the table. The warmth of our beds and the rain outside.. From somewhere one little ball of fur comes and lays over you begging for your attention..Isn’t this the perfect moment. Everything is calm and quiet. The stress is an unknown word for now… Then the reality hits you.

For sure books are the perfect ways the relieve the stress from the bad day and bring joy to your life. Every keen reader knows How To Book in their own way. But what happens when the stress is caused by the book? Yeah, that is possible too and for the ”new” in our paper smelly world now, I’ll tell you some tricks about the situations that bring the ”stress” and how to deal with them, so you can continue the journey.

1.YOU CAN’T READ EVERYTHING.

Sorry to tell you this bad new, but it’s true. Sadly our time and energy are limited. Sometimes while your nose is stuck in the pages you forget about the world around you and even your own existence. Then something distracts you and everything ”falls apart”. Hunger and fatigue strikes as your sore eyes close slowly realising you haven’t done a thing. From the shelves the new and old titles glare at you with blame waiting their forgotten hour as you read the new books you’ve bought.

The way to deal with this is actually easy. The first thing to do is to accept it. You are not capable of reading every book you want to for a little time. To avoid the feeling of blame try to bring home fewer books and reading the ones you already have. It’s not problem, that they aren’t new anymore. It’s not a problem that you’ve forgotten them for a while. Don’t worry, they’ll forgive you when you finally touch them. After all, that’s what they’ve been waiting for. You can always buy the new one which caught your eye in the shop later. It won’t run away.

2. C.H.O.R.E.S.- Yeah, this one again. Chores with capital letters. Or like I say Crying Hour Of the Rising Eternal Sorrow. No, it’s not too dramatic. We all know how bad they really are especially when you’re on the most interesting part or sank deep deep into the letters. You’ve just started and from the door your mother comes with the ”’WHY HAVEN’T YOU WASHED THE DISHES?” or ” I TOLD YOU TO CLEAN YOUR ROOM!” and the lecture starts over and over again like the previous time. Not only that but when you know you have something to do and try to read your precious brain won’t stop thinking about the work you haven’t finished.  It eats you alive little by little, piece by piece…

Again, easy but not that pleasant solution. Do it. Just do the goddamn chores before that so you can read with clear mind and don’t have to worry about them later. Well… it’s in parents’ nature to think of more and more things for you to do right when you actually found something interesting, but this is something with which we just have to deal quietly. No one have found the answer to it yet.

3. You can’t afford it.- You stare at the book. You touch it. Smell it. Feel it and read the back cover. It enchants you. You want it. You want it so bad. Then leave it on its place and walk off the store. Yeah, I know the pain dear.. You’re mad at yourself for not collecting enough money or spending them on something else, but that’s life. Unfortunately, books are not cheap. Especially when you’re teen with no work and your parents often forget to give you money even for school because you get up earlier from them. But that’s Ok.

Something you already know will help you with your dilemma. People had created libraries for that long ago. Well..they may not be big like in the movies but are still very good places. If you have luck, you may find the newest titles or the exactly same book you’ve fallen for so hard. It even helps you choose what to read when you look at the shelves. Moreover they offer a great atmosphere. The feeling may not be the same as owning the book, but it’s still better than nothing, isn’t it?

4. My favourite: The main( or our beloved) character dies.- Familiar right? Every single person familiar with the so popular now ”The Fault in Our Stars”( and not only. I’ll add here Game of thrones, All the bright places, Harry Potter and lots more) knows the feeling. It can be very painful, breaking, shocking and hundreds of similar ideas. But this isn’t enough. Of course the creator wants to torture us even more, so there are about 100 more pages for how the life continues without them. Well this is actually what real life is like, but we don’t search for it, right? So.. you break down, cry, scream and throw things all over the room. Punch walls and break dishes and mirrors. You want to finish the book, although you want to tear it and never look at it again, because you don’t think you could handle it even one second more. Despite that, something from inside wants to know the end. Sighs to understand what happens and leaves you in confused in ruins…

My suggestion here is: don’t hurry. We all know it’s not just fictional characters. This is a real person in one distant world you dares to taste. Well..this world won’t escape. It’ll be here forever, written and remembered. Have your time overcoming you emotional heart attack and when you’ve calmed down( it may take hours or days) then finish it. Cry out your soul, don’t hold it back. I won’t judge you. And after it’s all over don’t grab the next reading. Wait until this one leaves you and you’re capable of function properly. Books leaves wounds too and we need to time heal them.

So.. this is one part of the problems that our friends bring and simple tricks to deal with them. Hope that I was able to help you and make it joyful. See ya soon ❤

Just a little poem

(Not even finished)

Feel the cold surround our minds.

And the darkness reaching to our hearts.

See the fear feeding on our dream

afraid of what the future brings.

Can we close our eyes and trust in who we are?

Can we even tell near from far?

Are we dead? Asleep? Alive?

Are we lost and blurred in our minds?

Like a fog in summer night

Everything is grey and white.

Soo… I can go on, but that’s what I’ve written long ago and can’t think of something new to add. You know, sometimes you can’t read a book for one day, especially when it’s longer( something like 400 pages). Or when you have work. Or don’t have inspiration. Reading may be fun, but we all know it’s not that easy. Of course there are books which you just sink in and don’t have a clue when you’ve reached the half or the end. The hours go on and on and on, but you’re so deep in the pages that you don’t read anymore. You see, hear, feel and smell. You don’t read the book. You are in it. So much in it, that even reality seems a little blurred. In the begging it’s” I’ll just rest for a while.” and in the next moment when you leave the story it has been 4 hours, 300 pages and outside it’s dark. Just like your room. You’ve forgotten that you were hungry or cold. Your eyes have been reading in the dark, but now can’t see a thing. Even the rest if the family is asleep. Then the next thought it’s just one ”Oh… I did it again”

Let’s get back to what I actually wanted to say. I’ll post poems, quotes and thoughts when I don’t have book I’ve finished yet or a lot of time. I’m really trying to be active, but sadly something else swallows my time. One sh*tty word- C.H.O.R.E.S. Similar, right? For today I have tons of work and one little, short and actually not bad book which I think I could finish. At least I’ll try. I’m leaving you now in order to do at least ONE thing from my ”list” Bye friendos ❤

Graffiti Moon

Okay.. This is for some kind of start so I’ll be short.( just like my height) Graffiti Moon is a book I’ve read months ago and before about 20 other books so my memory is a little foggy. However the book left it’s ”footprint” in my mind. The main character is Lucy Dervish. An artistic girl who chases her ”dream boy”. The problem is that she doesn’t even know him. The only thing she knows about him is the one that made her fall in love in him. He is graffiti artist called The shadow. He and his friend The Poet make graffiti in the whole town that dwells deep into her soul, but the image and the caption never match.

Lucy is not the typical novel heroine. She is not the popular girl whose life turns upside down. Neither the outsider who finds friends. She is just a normal student. Nothing special expect her passion about art and glass. That’s one of the best things about the novel. On the day of her graduation she and her friends, Daisy and Jazz, meet with some boys from their school. Unfortunately one of the boys is Lucy’s almost boyfriend, Ed. She liked him, he liked her, but their first and last date two years ago didn’t go well. She broke his nose. A little after that accident he left school to help his mother. The six of them go to ”adventure” to search for the mysterious graffiti makers. Okay, I’m over with the spoil. In the book you can see how the characters slowly open themselves for new things and people. How they grow and overcome many awkward or dangerous situations together. The amazing thoughts make incredible quotes which can make you over think a lot of things or even change the way you see the world around you. Great story, amazing and strong characters, funny and tense moments. This is something you will never regret reading. It shows you that you don’t need to be someone special to have the life from the fairy tales. I hope you’ll be on the same opinion like me, because it’s worth your time even to only give it a try!

Chosen quote : “You were right. Real is better. The truth is better. It makes you feel kind of stupid, but it’s better.”
